#MonthOfDarkness Day 3: The Monster You Love

Prompt: The Monster I Love

Featured Character: Fae

World: Vampire: The Masquerade

For Day Three of the Month of Darkness Challenge, Nella returns to the past of one of her Vampire: The Masquerade characters: Fae.

Long before London, Fae lived beneath the watchful eye of her sire, Lucien Devereux, a Toreador elder who could be impossibly gentle with his favorite creation and utterly monstrous to anyone he believed had wronged her.

Tonight begins like so many nights in the Devereux household: classical music, charcoal against paper, Sebastian nearby, and Lucien’s hand gently stroking through Fae’s hair.

Then someone from the previous night’s Elysium arrives at their door.

Someone who had cornered Fae when she was alone.

Fae knows exactly what Lucien is.

Because sometimes the monster you should fear most...

is the monster you love.
