Study of the Book of Daniel Recap of the previous semester covering chapters 1-6:Chapter 1: Daniel taken captive by Babylon. Chapter 2: Daniel interprets Nebuchadnezzar's dream. Chapter 3: Story of the three Hebrew boys in the furnace. Chapter 4: Nebuchadnezzar's acknowledgment of God. Chapter 5: Writing on the wall. Chapter 6: Daniel in the lion's den. Chapter 7: Transition to prophetic themes. Focus on Daniel Chapter 9 Key Verses and Themes Verse 24-27: Prophecy about the tribulation, Jesus Christ's death, and future events. Explanation of the "70 weeks" prophecy:1 week = 7 years 70 weeks = 490 years. Prediction of Jesus Christ's coming, death, and the tribulation. Prophecy Breakdown Verse 24: Christ's coming to end transgression and bring everlasting righteousness. Verse 25: Rebuilding of Jerusalem, prediction of the Messiah. Verses 26-27: Christ's crucifixion, beginning of the tribulation, and the Antichrist's actions. The Tribulation Period 7-year period of God's judgment upon Israel. Divided into two parts:First half: False sense of peace. Second half: Great Tribulation with severe judgments. Purpose: To judge Israel for their sins and lead them back to God. The Church's Role The church age currently ongoing, characterized by evangelism and grace. Pre-Tribulational Rapture: Belief that the church will be taken to heaven before the tribulation. Scriptural basis for pre-tribulation belief:1 Thessalonians 1:10, 5:9 - Not appointed unto wrath. 1 Corinthians 15 and 1 Thessalonians 4 - Details on the rapture. Application and Conclusion Live in light of Jesus Christ's return. Spread the gospel and warn others about the coming judgment. Reminder of Jesus's redemptive power and abundant life offered through faith. Questions and Answers Clarification on the 7-year period. Explanation of being "born again" and the significance of baptism as a public profession of faith.
