Kim Dalli is an amazing powerhouse for telling the stories of women, and empowering others in doing so. A journalist, a business woman, a volunteer and mentor, an actress, writer... the list goes on, but whatever Kim does, she does with a passion to bring light to women and their journeys. In this episode of Mpowered Kim shares her part in an exhibition and short film relating to narcasstic abuse, she talks about her journey as a volunteer at the St Jeanne Antide Foundation, Kim lists the stories she has been uncovering as a researcher and writer for the soon-to-be-released series 'Women of the George Cross Island', she talks about her role in the internationally renowned and award winning play 'They Blew Her Up' and Kim shares about her journey as an actress. Danica Muscat is a lady with many strings to her bow, this remarkable woman is studying a Master's of Arts in Health, Medicine and Society at University of Malta and works at Aġenzija Sapport as a residential leader of young men who are 18+ and have severe autism. But you are more likely to know Danica from her music career, with many accomplishments to her name including Winning the Public Vote at Mużika Mużika 2021, her participation on Lo Canto on Italy’s Canale 5, singing with Italian superstars - Pierdavide Carone; and Ornella Vanoni, her cover of In Assenza di Te on Canale 5 was published by Sony Music Italia. In this edition of Mpowered we discuss her work, her passion to help the young men at Aġenzija Sapport, and of course her music. From spending a year in Italy alone when she was just 15, to the incredible opportunities that lie ahead this year.

Dr Maria Pisani is a senior lecturer at the University of Malta within Youth and Community Studies and the Faculty for Social Wellbeing as well as cofounder and director of the Integra Foundation, an organisation set up in 2004 with the aim of facilitating the integration of minority groups in Malta, providing community service, outreach and English classes to refugees and asylum seekers on a voluntary basis as well as working with the International Organization for Migration. In this episode of Mpowered Maria shares the reality of the human rights issues we see around us all the time, the stories of those fleeing from conflict, or searching for a better life. Maria also shares her own story of growing up as a foreigner and how this shaped her ceaseless drive to see all humans being treated fairly and equally. In her own words ‘Towards the end of 2019, I decided to buy some plants to decorate my home with, as it was looking really bare. I brought home six plants and thought ‘I had better look up how to keep these guys alive, or I’ll have wasted all that money.’ And so Shelley Caruana started researching plants and turned what would normally be a normal household chore, into a passion, a social media success story with over 169,000 followers, and into a business venture with Shelley’s Indoor Jungle Website. Shelley not only talks about the positives of her amazing story, but also the anxiety and stress of social media success, the time and dedication - bordering on obsession - that it takes to gain and maintain hundreds of thousands of followers. Dr Lara Dimitrijevic is a Founding Partner at Sciberras Associates, Dr. Dimitrijevic specialises primarily in family law and has worked extensively on immigration cases. Lara also leads the Women’s Rights Foundation which is a voluntary organisation committed to informing, educating and empowering women concerning their legal rights. If anyone in Malta really does care about women and the destiny of women, it is this extraordinary guest Lara. In this moving and enlightening episode of Mpowered, Lara shares her journey of a hunger strike and sit down protest as school, a teenage pregnancy, volunteering with refugees, a by-chance sign up to study law and the other influences that brought her to where she is now. She shares the nature of the cases of abuse that she represents, that are so prevalent in Malta, such as domestic abuse, forced pregnancy, marital rape and slavery. Recently Maxine spoke out about miscarriage as her and her husband dealt with the loss of her pregnancy. Everyday we eat, and usually when we eat we use plates, cups and other crockery, and most of the time we give very little thought to what our food is sitting on. Sue Mifsud is a Ceramic Artist who is well known for her distinctive and unique style, regularly commissioned by some of the best restaurants and establishments in the world to create tableware that will bring a dinning table to life. Sue walks us through the process of interpreting the chef's personality and the nature of the restaurant to create a ceramic canvas on which the food will be served. Sue also explains the materials used to create items that most of us take very much for grated. Sue also talks about her journey to create a successful business doing something she absolutely loves. Jade Boye has an extraordinary story which many will be able to empathise with, I'm sure. Jade started her life, education and career with a passion for all things creative - particularly Interior Design, but as she chose which path to follow for her long term vocation she was drawn to the security of accountancy, management and operations, leaving her creative dreams far behind. After striving to pushing herself to achieve, life threw a curve ball with a problematic pregnancy that caused her to rethink everything she was doing and return to her first love of making beautiful living spaces for people.
