After a long period of mostly doing documentaries, Wim Wenders returns to narrative feature filmmaking with a film originally envisioned to help the Tokyo Toilet Project showcase their 15 internationally designed public bathrooms.

Kōji Yakusho stars as Hirayama, a public toilet cleaner, who is mostly silent and enjoys the small pleasures of life.

From his trees, to his cassettes, to his bike rides, Hirayama lives a structured and repetitive existence in a minimalist apartment appreciating the small things in life.
