During break time on a sunny day, Maya walks onto the playground excited to play with her friends. She sees Amina and Hassan laughing together while playing a clapping game. When Maya asks if she can join, Hassan explains that the game only works with two people. Maya walks away feeling sad and left out.
As Maya talks with her teacher, Miss Roberts, she learns that being left out can feel difficult but it does not mean her friends do not like her. With a little encouragement, Maya realizes she has choices. She can wait to play later, find another friend, or create her own fun. When Maya asks Zara to play on the swings, the heavy feeling in her chest begins to disappear.
