Good Grief!

We've all experienced grief in one form or another. When we're walking through a difficult time, it can be hard to know how we should feel or what we should do. Sometimes we may even think to ourselves, "Am I doing this right?" We've also asked that question when helping a friend through a tough time. We want to avoid being like Job's friends, but sometimes we don't know what to say. This week, Jenny Perkins Kiser joins us to share from her experiences as a pastor and a hospital chaplain on how to grieve well and help others in their grief as well. Join us! For more information, contact Megan Langan.

Who the Heck is Melchizedek?!

There are some Biblical characters we’re all familiar with - Jesus, David, Paul. But some are more obscure, though no less important. You may have come across the name Melchizedek when reading your Bible and thoughts, “Who the heck is Melchizedek?” Join us to find out who this mysterious man is and why getting to know him will help us get to know Jesus.

What Does it Look Like to Choose Laity?

You hear pastors say, “I knew I was called to ministry when…” But we’re all called to ministry, aren’t we? Some of us are called to be church staff, or clergy, but most of us are called to be church members, or laity. So how do we discern that calling, and how do we live that calling well? This week, Blaise Langan joins us to discuss how we as church members can take hold of our calling.

Are Faith and Science in Conflict with One Another?

Midweek 10/25/23 The age-old debate of science vs. religion seems to go in circles, doesn't it? Are faith and science really opposed to one another? Or do they actually work in concert together? This week, Matthew Benesh joins us to share his testimony and his work in the world of science as well as the world of faith.

How Can We Find Truth in a Post-Modern Culture?

Midweek in the City 10-11-23 We've heard people say, "Find your truth," but what about THE truth? In a post-modern culture where truth is considered relative, it can be hard to know how to move forward and how to share our faith. This week, Dr. Bill Walker joins us to help us find and define truth in a post-modern culture, and give insight on how we can build our spiritual lives around this truth. Join us!

When is a Mountain More Than a Mountain?

Midweek in the City - 10-4-23 God didn’t have to create a physical world, but he did. He created things - rocks, coffee, pigs, flowers. How can the physical world God created lead us into deeper understanding of the spiritual? How might our worship be deepened by the things around us? Join us for dinner and discussion!

What is the Ethical Way to do Mission Work?

Mission work, both locally and globally, is central to the work of the church. But we know that it has not always been done well. Knowing how to engage in ethical missions can be difficult. This week, we are joined by Byron Pitts, our Minister for Missions and Evangelism who will share about his experience as a missionary in China, and how we can develop the right theology and practice for mission work.

What is the Power in our Testimonies?

We're living in light of the resurrected Christ, and we want to bring others into this marvelous light! But it can be hard to know how to share our story with others, and we can easily convince ourselves that our stories aren't worth telling. This week, we're talking about the power of our testimonies, and we'll be hearing testimonies from several of our own members!
