🐙 The Great Octopus Escape — When Inky Escaped to the Sea
In 2016, an octopus named Inky pulled off one of the strangest escapes in aquarium history.
At the National Aquarium of New Zealand, Inky slipped out of his tank through a small gap, crossed the floor, and found his way into a drainpipe.
The pipe led roughly 50 meters toward the ocean.
By the time aquarium staff realized what had happened, Inky was gone.
There was no dramatic chase. No broken glass. Just a very clever octopus, a slightly open lid, and a drainpipe leading to freedom.
Inky was never found.
