Bechorot 12 Daily Daf

On today's daf, Bekhorot 12, a firstborn donkey is redeemed with a lamb, and Rabbi Eliezer and the Rabbis disagree over when that redemption is truly complete: at designation or at delivery. In this episode, we walk through the Mishnah's two scenarios, a dying lamb and a dying donkey, and the logic behind each opinion. Then we explore how the same tension shows up in the Passover lamb, the Lamb of God, and the New Testament's picture of redemption that is both decided from the foundation of the world and carried out at a specific moment in history. One page of Talmud a day, read through a Messianic Jewish lens.
