Psalm 1

Psalm 1 stands as the gatekeeper to the Psalter, confronting all who would enter the Lord’s courts with praise with only two ways: the way of the righteous, which leads to blessedness, and the way of the wicked, which leads to perishing. Yet the tension we feel here - and throughout the Psalms - is the disparity between our own lives and the way of the righteous. That tension finds its resolution in Jesus Christ, the truly blessed and righteous Man, through whom we enter the presence of God and who is Himself the Way of the righteous.
