Stagione 4

Ep. 78 Daniel Clay

Daniel Clay as an elegant simplicity to his work hat I had to dig into. We spent time talking about where he's been, what other creative outlets he's had and how he ended up with the style and ethos he has now. It was a treat to pick his brain and I hope you think so as well. you can find him on the web in a few places such as: @danielclay, his website or youtube Big thanks to my sponsor, their info is below. Ep. 77 Joshua Shorey / Bapo Design

Joshua Shorey has been on the list for a long time, I really enjoy the elegance his work seems to naturally have and he was kind enough to let me pick his brain a bit. He tells me some of his life experiences and analyze a bit how these things informed his artistic visions. He also clues me in on his journey through the mediums he has used over his life. You can find him on his website Bapodesign.com and on his Instagram @bapodesign Listeners get 10% off on Relaxed Tax by Sagan Financial Group, a local Chattanooga company serving all 50 states. Ep. 76 Shannon Ferguson

You know some days just throw you a curveball? That happened this day, but after a successful scramble Shannon and I were able to sit and chat about all the things. Travel, festivals, music, stop motion animation, quilts, texture sensitivities, and a bit about a dog too. Shannon is a UTK Print MFA Candidiate '26 and also led me through some of the visual vocabulary and decision making ethos of her current bodies of work. I certainly enjoyed getting the inside scoop on her work and I hope you do too. You can find her on instagram tiktok and online at https://www.shannonfergusonart.net Listeners get 10% off on Relaxed Tax by Sagan Financial Group, a local Chattanooga company serving all 50 states. Ep. 75 Keith Bryant

Another message into the ether met with an enthusiastic yes. Keith has a varied array of mechanical interests on top of a creatively saturated family and childhood. He loves bikes, motorcycles, and apparently upcycling as well. He lets me pick his brain about the how's and whys of his work, music, a bit of travel and a lot of how these things all come together to help him pursue his craft. We sat in his garage, listened to the rain and had a fun conversation, I hope you all enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed recording! Ep. 74 Callie Goetz the Nuclear Potter

On this episode of the KAANP we have Callie Goetz @the_nuclear_potter and she is legit double trouble. A nuclear scientist AND one hell of a potter. We sat down in her studio at Might Mud and talked a lot about porcelain and a little about how her science and her art influence each other. How inseparable they are, and how pottery is like jazz. So if you need to know how this all works just like I did, then definitely throw this one in your ear holes and hang on! Also the BIG news attached to this episode is that the KAANP is now part of the Podnooga network! This is a Chattanooga based podcast network and I am happy to be on board with them. I give ya the run down in the first two minutes to get you up to speed and then its business as usual. I also encourage y'all to go take a look at the other podcasts on the Podnooga network and show them some love, tell em I sent you. I have a sponsor now! Ep. 73 Vincent Drake

To me Vincent Drake had always been an aloof figure in the realm of Knoxville creatives. His work has a look that I really enjoy but hard to label. It's deconstructed, composed, chaos, and order all at the same time and I really dig it. When I made it into his studio to record our conversation he made it clear that he very much disliked small talk and was very excited to have a long form conversation about his work, the environments that spawn his creations, and we even get into the nature of free will a bit. We went all over the map with this one and it was a treat to pick his brain but he also picked mine a bit too. So be ready, this conversation could be considered a bit revealing for more than just the guest, we both take a dive into our creative ethos just to do so. You can find his website here and his instagram here --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

Ep. 72 Skout Smith

This episode features a wonderfully talented Skout Smith. She paints, she draws, but mostly she tattoos. We cover the bases, influences, work flows, and how chasing the muse is a bitch sometimes. Also her adventures into vintage camper ownership and its hurdles. She's gonna be tattooing at Golden Heart in Seymour for the next little while, I would definitely check her out sooner than later if you're in the market for some new ink. We had a fun chat and I hope you enjoy listening. You can find Skout on instagram here, and the tattoo shop Golden Heart here. As always yall are downright the best listeners and I appreciate when ya hit the play button every single time. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

Ep. 71 A Rucked up Red Pretzel Crisp Soiree

This show is the only "tradition" of the KAANP. I gather Ruck, Dan, Preston, myself, and occasionally Magnus around a small table filled with cables, mic stands, tiny trash cans and warm hearts. We chat art, our creative desires, mess with effects and make horrible jokes. We try to hold ourselves at least a little bit accountable for what we have and will create. This is your front row seat into what its like seeing 4 noodly artsy brains be noodly artsy brains together and it pleases me greatly to be able to present this silliness to you at the top of the year. You all are the best, and I hope you enjoy the ride because this episode is a doozy. (this episode EARNED the explicit E btw so...ya know be aware) Thank you for listening. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

Stagione 3

Ep. 70 Randy L Purcell

I found Randy L Purcell on the ole Instagram and had to bend his ear. I had never seen and was totally ignorant of his particular form of expression. Luckily, I asked nicely, and he obliged to let me pick his brain. I found bees, their wax, lots of tiny pieces of paper, and a very vivid imagination. I hope you all enjoy hearing me be educated about his process and a little bit of joyful banter. You can find Randy at his website here or his instagram. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

Ep. 69 the Orgycast

Episode 69 was another shot in the dark, question into the ether, random questions via the internet. I gathered a group of glorious individuals in the super secret studio, Brandi Augustus, Chance Losher, Derek Rucker, John Starkey, and Adam Rowe. In effort and spirit to gather more creative folks and make the world smaller I hosted another group episode. We all touch base on the struggles of being creatives, what its like being a creative person in Knoxville, and a bit of how and why we advocate for our chosen forms of expression. You can find Brandi all over the internet. Click here for her website and here for her instagram. the rest of the wonderful guests all have their own episodes to go stick in your ears, so please enjoy the backlog. as always many thanks to yall for listening. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message
