Why It's Hard To Make Friends As An Adult

Hosts Ryan and Macey Mueller are back for season 2! For this episode, we are talking about why it's hard to make friends as an adult. We'll share our own stories, get real on friending post-college, and discuss society's view on friendship. In Season 1, we discuss categories of friends and how you can make a friend that falls under each group. Season 2 will dive deeper into the emotional and mental side of platonic relationships. We are also excited to have guests on later in the season to share their BFF, frenemies, and crazy friend stories. New episodes out every Wednesday!
Stagione 1

Group Friends

For our last episode of season 1, we're discussing group friends! Making friends in a club or group setting - such as Meetup, Facebook, alumni association, country club, gym, etc - can be a really easy way to actually make friends as an adult! Group organizers tend to be invested in ensuring members are getting the most out of the events and they can be the easiest way to make friends with common interests and beliefs. Hosts Ryan and Macey talk all about Meetup groups, clubs, and why joining a group might be the easiest way to make a friend post-college.

Roommates

Roommates can be... something! Sometimes you truly can't live with them, can't live without them. If you get lucky and a roommate or neighbor ends up being best friend potential, you might have found a friend for life! Hosts Ryan & Macey talk all about their roommate experiences and if this category of friend is worth pursuing.

Couple Friends

Having couple friends can be really beneficial if you are in a relationship! However, they can be difficult to make and sometimes hard to keep. Hosts Macey & Ryan discuss couple friends on this episode. Even if you are single, couple friends can be a great addition to your friend group and they often bring multiple perspectives and personalities when hanging out!

Combating Isolation

We're taking a break and doing this episode a little differently than the others to discuss something rarely talked about - adult isolation! During the holiday season and other times in your life you may feel quite lonely, particularly if you are going through a grieving period, failed relationship, or life setback. Hosts Ryan and Macey share their experiences and provide tips on combating isolation. A more "serious" episode for this season, we've always wanted to be transparent. Let's cut the BS and all agree that making friends as an adult is hard because life is hard. It's okay to be lonely and it's okay to not be okay. We hope this episode normalizes that the holidays aren't always jolly but there are several ways to feel the magic once more.

Co-Worker Friends

Co-workers... you either love them or couldn't be paid to hang out with them! Join hosts Ryan and Macey as they discuss the co-worker-friend category. This category looks different for everyone because we all have different ideas of professionalism and boundaries in the workplace. You see your co-workers more than anyone, so they can be excellent friend potential! Please tune in and make sure to follow us on social media @hardtomakefriendsasanadult!

Hobby Friends

It's hard to make friends as an adult, and even more difficult if your hobby is Netflix and chilling! Hobby friends are great to have because they can help inspire and bring more fun to an already enjoyable hobby you have. However, they can be challenging to make if you have few hobbies or if your hobbies are individualistic. Hosts Ryan and Macey will share their opinions on hobby friends, discuss ways to make friends, and determine if certain hobbies facilitate friendship more than others.
