Note sull'episodio
The Apostle Paul wrote the letter to the Philippians while facing imprisonment, yet the letter overflows with joy, gratitude, encouragement, and confidence in Christ. Rather than focusing on his own hardship, Paul prayed for the spiritual growth of the believers in Philippi.
His prayer was not simply that they would have more love in an emotional sense. He prayed that their love would grow “in knowledge and in all judgment.” Paul wanted them to possess a love that was anchored in the truth of God’s Word and guided by spiritual discernment. He desired for them to know how to recognize what was most important, make choices that honored God, and live with sincerity as they awaited the return of Jesus Christ.
This prayer remains timely for us today. We live in a world full of voices, options, opinions, opportunities, and distractions. Not everything that looks good is good for us. Not every open door is a God-ordained assignment. Not every popular idea is true. We need more than emotion, instinct, or public opinion—we need love that is informed by God’s truth and directed by godly wisdom.
