Esther 7–9 brings the crisis to its turning point.

Haman had planned the destruction of the Jewish people.

He had built a gallows for Mordecai.

He had gained the king’s authority.

A date had been set.

The decree had already gone throughout the Persian Empire.

From a human perspective, the situation looked almost impossible.

But chapter 7 reveals Haman’s plot before the king.

Esther finally identifies herself with her people and exposes the man responsible for the decree.

Haman, who planned Mordecai’s death, is executed on the very gallows he had prepared.

Then chapter 8 shows that Haman’s death does not automatically cancel the danger.

The original Persian decree cannot simply be revoked.

So Esther pleads again.
