Your attention is one of the easiest things to give away.

A notification takes it.

An argument takes it.

A stranger’s opinion takes it.

A problem that is not even yours takes it.

And if you are not careful, you can spend an entire day reacting to things that never deserved that much of you.

Make your attention expensive.

Do not give every interruption immediate access.

Do not let every opinion become a debate.

Do not let every inconvenience become the center of your day.

Your attention should go toward the work, people, problems, and ideas that actually deserve it.

That does not mean ignoring everything.

It means becoming selective.

The more valuable your attention becomes to you, the less willing you are to waste it on noise.
