Christianity was originally called “The Way,” and Christians were given the title “Followers of the Way.” Though extremely simple, this initial description of God’s people has a profound revelation attached to it—especially when you consider that Jesus boldly claimed, “I AM THE WAY!” (Jn. 14:6). This message from three years ago is so powerful, we felt it needed to be repeated. It will definitely stir in you a fresh appreciation in you concerning your spiritual identity. Billions of people in various religions sincerely worship God, but not all of it is acceptable or receivable to Him. Jesus explained that “true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth.” This dual requirement is so essential that the Savior added, “The Father is seeking such to worship Him” (John 4:23). What a profound statement! We need to find out what it means. Ancient altars provided a connecting link between God and His people, facilitating powerful visitations, rich revelations, and miraculous manifestations. Abundant proof can be found in Scripture where major expressions of supernatural power accompanied altar worship for Able, Noah, Abraham and others. Joel 1:13 refers to priests in the Old Testament as ministers of the altar. All who qualify as priests in the New Testament now bear this title. Our altar is much different, but it is still a primary key in connecting with God. After the 10 Commandments were given on Mount Sinai, God gave the design for building an altar, enabling Israelites to approach Him for repentance and consecration. The details contain hidden symbolism concerning profound New Testament realities. In the Old Testament, priests were called “ministers of the altar” (Joel 1:13). New Testament believers have inherited this status also, but on a higher level. The mysteries are about to be revealed.
