LET'S RUIN TRANSFORMERS! (part IV)

A full video version of this episode is available on the Depot Devoid YouTube channel! Our TRANSFORMERS saga comes to a close with part 4, in which Matt and Ted reveal their terrible, terrible ideas for a new Transformers movie adaptation. It has been a difficult journey, mostly because we had to watch the 2007 Transformers movie to get here, but we started this quest with two living Fagan brothers and we finished with the same number. At the Depot Devoid Podcast, we consider that a victory.

LET'S RUIN TRANSFORMERS! (part III)

The destruction continues in part 3! How can you make a worse Transformers movie than Michael Bay, if you don't watch the Transformers movie by Michael Bay? I promise you, if we could have found a way, we would have. Instead, stupid nerd loser brothers Matt Fagan and Ted Fagan endure the most epically punishing six or seven hours ever committed to screen: the running time of the 2007 live-action 'movie' Transformers. Our goal, this whole time, has been to study the Transformers franchise and, armed with that wisdom, pitch to each other our own worst-possible-versions of a Transformers film adaptation. Our intention is to concoct a scenario that is WORSE than the 2007 Michael Bay movie. But have we set for ourselves an impossible task? When I asked my Magic Eight-Ball, it replied, "Before time began, there was The Cube." We're so fucked.

LET'S RUIN TRANSFORMERS! (part II)

Our quest: to make a worse Transformers movie than Michael Bay! The great labor continues in Part II, where we examine the 1986 animated film TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE, which we know is a beloved childhood classic. But is it a good Transformers movie? Are you sure? Fun, sorrow, nostalgia, disappointment, butt-rock, and anger will all be on the table, in this smorgasbord of giant robots and galactic conflict. We have questions. And terrible ideas. Join Ted Fagan and Matt Fagan in the second part of an epic four-episode journey to destroy their own youth. Let's ruin Transformers!

LET'S RUIN TRANSFORMERS! (part I)

People have a lot to say about what Michael Bay could have done better. But what's lost in that discussion is a far more interesting question: how could Michael Bay have made the Transformers movie WORSE? Matt Fagan and Ted Fagan embark on an epic journey to understand the Essential Truth of the Transformers, with the ultimate goal of creating the worst, least satisfying Transformers movie possible! In part one, the brothers examine their origins in the three-episode premiere of the Transformers G1 cartoon from 1984. It all starts here. Let's ruin Transformers!

My Other Brother D.A.R.Y.L.

Matt Fagan and his brother Ted watch a beloved childhood favorite, the 1986 sci-fi blandathon D.A.R.Y.L.! Nostalgia and good will, our most powerful weapons, stand firm against the grownup problems of terrible pacing and muddled themes. And they are pretty big problems! But amazing child actors like Barret Oliver and Danny Corkill make this one a standout. One of the best pecker contests of the eighties!

Doppelganger? I Hardly Know 'Er!

Join Matt Fagan as he grabs his brother Ted by the scruff of the neck and rubs his face in Doppelganger! We all make mistakes, but none of our mistakes from 1993 were released direct-to-video. Drew Barrymore, hot on the heels of her scathing memoir, and the title role in box-office bomb Poison Ivy, is desperate to show the world that she is an adult. Doppelganger was... not the right vehicle for that assertion.

Alien vs. Matt vs. Ted vs. Predator

Ted Fagan is not amused. Alien vs. Predator did not amuse him one bit! But Matt's enthusiasm will not falter beneath his withering gaze. Join the brothers as Ted reacts to his first and only viewing of the greatest face-off of 2004, Alien vs. Predator: Dawn of Justice! This mini-episode is also available as a full video on the Depot Devoid Podcast channel on YouTube.

Zeists's a Beach, Baby! AKA Highlander 2, Audience zero

If we were David Banner and we needed something to make us mad enough to hulk out, we would watch Highlander II: The Quickening. For the first time since this turd was steaming up theaters in 1991, Matt Fagan and Ted Fagan view the original cut of Highlander II, complete with the alien prologue. A version so reviled that by the time it reached home video a few months later, all references to the alien planet had been removed - a wise decision which did nothing to improve the movie. How did any of this happen? Were we in hell, all along? We thought there could be only one. We wish there was only one.

The Quest... or Frog Dreaming?

Ostensible adults Ted Fagan and Matt Fagan return to a sacred space from childhood, the 1986 kids' adventure movie The Quest. Or is it called Frog Dreaming? Henry Thomas (E.T.) plays an inventive fourteen-year-old, determined to expose the truth behind a monster that lives in a flooded quarry. The brothers have mixed feelings about the results, but a lot of fun revisiting this artifact that Matt hadn't seen for over thirty years.

Freeway, the Reddest Riding Hood

Matt introduces Ted to the best version of Little Red Riding Hood, the 1996 indy film Freeway, written and directed by Matthew Bright. Plus, Ted tells the secret story of that time he was Steve, and our investigative acumen reveals the shocking truth about Kiefer Sutherland! Do you want to get shot a whole bunch of times? Then you won't want to miss this episode of Depot Devoid!
