Note sull'episodio
DJ Scotty Rock joins Capital J and DL Glass for a powerful conversation where hip-hop, politics and public service collide.
Scotty reflects on his journey behind the turntables, growing up during hip-hop’s early years and the unforgettable moment a record his mother purchased nearly got him in trouble. He also shares the painful lesson of losing an election by just one vote—and why nobody should ever assume their vote doesn’t matter.
The conversation gets deeper as Scotty examines the evolution of hip-hop, the music industry’s influence on the culture and his belief that some eras of music helped normalize destructive behavior.
In this episode:
• Growing up with old-school hip-hop • The record his mother almost destroyed • His evolution as a DJ • Losing an election by one vote • The importance of voting and community involvement • His controversial perspective on crunk music • How hip-hop, politics and leadership intersect
