Sometimes It's the Little Things
Have you ever spent ten minutes looking for your phone...while holding your phone? That's a special moment. You're walking around saying: “Where did I put that thing?” Then suddenly you realize you're carrying it. You don't tell anybody. There are some experiences that simply need to remain between you and the Lord. But moments like that remind us of something important: we often overlook what's right in front of us. We're looking forward to the big event. The big opportunity. The big breakthrough. Meanwhile, life is quietly happening in little moments. A conversation. A laugh. Someone holding the door. A good meal. A peaceful morning. A good cup of coffee. Even the shape of that coffee cup can make a difference. Did you know that your Coffee Cup Can Influence your coffee experience? When we drink coffee, we aren't experiencing flavor with our tongue alone. Aroma plays an enormous role. The shape and opening of a drinking vessel can influence how aromas reach your nose while you're sipping. That's one reason drinking the same coffee from different cups can sometimes make the experience seem slightly different. Who knew the humble coffee mug had such responsibility? We usually don't think about the mug. We're interested in what's inside it. And maybe that's another reminder about life. Little things matter. The quick phone call you make to somebody who's lonely matters. The compliment you give the cashier matters. The person you allow in front of you in traffic matters—even though admittedly that one requires slightly more spiritual maturity. Kindness doesn't always arrive wearing a cape. Usually, it’s something small. That's part of what Cager's Coffee Break is all about. Coffee gives us a reason to gather. Sit. Talk. Listen. And sometimes the simplest invitation—“Would you like some coffee?”—opens the door to a conversation someone desperately needed. Today might be a good day for a cup of Blame It on the Volcano, with those wonderful chocolate, caramel and toffee notes. But don't rush through it. Notice the aroma. Notice the warmth of the cup. Notice the people around you. Because someday we may discover that the moments we thought were insignificant were actually some of the best parts of our lives. And if you ever spend ten minutes searching for the glasses that are sitting on top of your head? Again...Nobody needs to know. Visit Cager's Coffee Hut at www.cagerscoffeehut.com, and remember to keep brewing kindness one cup at a time.
