The Rescue of Jesus

Revelation 15:1-8

The Main Point: The most important event in history has already happened but is also still to come.

The Worship for God’s Rescue in the “Final Exodus” (vv1-4)

• A Sign (v1; Jn 19:30)
• A Sea (v2; Rev 4:6; Ex 15:8b)
• A Song (vv3-4; Ex 15:1-18; Deut 28:59-60; 32:4; Ps 86:9-10)
• God’s salvation has already happened but is also still to come.
  • God’s people have already been saved, and we worship Jesus, now, for his salvation.
  • God’s people will be saved, and we will worship Jesus in eternity for his salvation.

The Wrath of God’s Justice in the “Final Exodus” (vv5-8)

• Final justice comes from God. (vv5-6)
• Final justice carries God’s glory and power. (vv7-8a)
• Final justice is complete according to God’s sovereign plan. (v8b)
• God’s judgment of evil has already happened but is also still to come.
  • God has judged evil, and we face consequences, now, for our sin. (Ps 139:23-24)
  • God will judge evil, and those who reject Jesus will face consequences in eternity for sin.
