Sally Wainwright and the Riot Women

She's won multiple BAFTAs. She created Happy Valley. And her newest series may be her boldest yet. In this episode, we explore the genius of Sally Wainwright — the Yorkshire writer who has spent 30 years putting complicated, real women at the center of British television. Then we dive deep into Riot Women, her 2025 BBC hit now streaming on BritBox. Five middle-aged women. One punk band. A whole lot of anger and joy. We'll cover the show's powerful themes, its extraordinary cast, and why this series is already being called one of Wainwright's very best.
