Micron’s New Taiwan Facility Signals More HBM Supply for the AI Buildout
Micron Technology is planning a second manufacturing facility in Taiwan at its newly acquired Tongluo site. According to Reuters, the new facility is aimed at expanding production of leading-edge DRAM, including high-bandwidth memory, or HBM, to support surging AI demand. Construction is scheduled to begin by the end of Micron’s fiscal 2026. That matters because HBM has become one of the most important pieces of the AI hardware stack, especially for data-centre GPUs and advanced AI servers.
