Quick - what's the first thing you think of when you hear the two words "Basic Instinct"? If you said "Wayne Knight sweating", congrats, there's dozens of us. Sure, there's ice picks and beaver shots, but Mr. Knight's catatonically besotted performance is one for the ages. An ill-advised (and mostly forgotten) sequel was produced, and somehow they didn't invite Wayne Knight back to once again stand slack-jawed and drench his polo shirt. A damn shame. Karl and Russ will dissect these two films, one of them remembered as an iconic '90s erotic neo-noir thriller, the other...well, not really remembered at all. It's for the best.

How does he go from a film where he kills nobody, to a film where he murders an entire drug cartel? Maybe it was the cowboy hat.
In this episode we take a look at the highly lauded 1961 sports drama The Hustler and it's legacy sequel The Color of Money, released 25 years later. Both films garnered Paul Newman a best actor nod for his role of Fast Eddie, but really it's Cruise acting like a samurai while singing Werewolves of London and screaming like a lunatic that will get you pumping your fist. As a bonus, we also now know what a Balabushka is!
For their inaugural episode, Karl and Russ dive into the 1996 blockbuster Independence Day, and it's legacy sequel Independence Day: Resurgence. Released almost exactly 20 years apart, they discuss each film in detail, talk about characters that do and don't reprise their roles, and whether any of this was necessary at all (hint: it probably wasn't).
