The Storm Is Real. Jesus Is More Real.

Matthew 14:22–33

What do we do when life feels chaotic and overwhelming?

In Matthew 14, the disciples find themselves caught in a violent storm on the Sea of Galilee. They have been rowing for hours when Jesus comes to them, walking on the water. Peter steps out of the boat at Jesus’ invitation, but when he shifts his attention from Jesus to the wind and waves, he begins to sink.

It’s easy to interpret this story as simply being about having enough faith to “get out of the boat”. But there is something deeper here.

The storm was real. Peter’s fear was real. His faith was fragile. But Jesus was there—and when Peter began to sink, Jesus reached out and grabbed him.
