Psalm 17:1-2, 3 (opening three lines), 6-7
Job tore his robe before he bowed down. That matters to me. Trusting God didn’t require him to pretend the loss hadn’t broken his heart. I ought to remember that when somebody else’s grief makes me uncomfortable. They may need my presence more than my explanation. And while the disciples were measuring who mattered most, Jesus put a child beside him. There’s a place to start when I don’t know what to say: pay attention to the person who needs care, without asking what I get back. I can bring God an honest prayer and still make room for somebody else. Faithfulness doesn’t need an audience, and suffering doesn’t need a speech from me.
