Keeping the theme of Verzuz battles going, we tackle the ongoing DC vs. The Rock saga and determine who is more at fault (23:00) before getting into random ruminations that have come to our mind (39:30)Then, we get into a big discussion about whether there will be a season three in Blerd City or not (1:07:08). The pod first kicks things off by tackling the superhero vs. “real” movies debate (9:35). The Rogue Jedi and Fallen Shinigami put on their historian hats and discuss the history of cinema and the different genres that dominated each era, defend the franchise era of cinema, but also point out its limitations. Then, once we open up our listener mailbag (35:44), the DC questions come flying in, projects that we look forward to in 2023, a host of Star Wars questions which reopens the great alien debate that threatens to destroy the podcast. Always a great time in the city, catch ya in the second half of season two

And it is time you all…We approach the ending of Season 1 and to commemorate the occasion, we have undergone a season recap. Like most season recaps before us, we take a look at the past to see where we started from, to where we are now. We take a look at the goals we set out for this podcast and peel back the curtain on certain…issues we had. We also laugh as we look back on our best episodes and have one of the best gags to end a season yet!
In this episode, Blerd City welcomes a much anticipated guest, Paulina aka The Afro-Puff Samurai. After getting into What’s Hot and introducing our guest, rules were read for the anime villain draft. Once the draft commenced, pick stealing, vetoes, trash-talk, rule-breaking, and betrayal soon followed as we embraced our inner villains. With the most intense moments occurring over a three-way battle for the Bone Daddy himself, Ainz Ooal Gown, and an argument over whether Castlevania is an anime. As usual, it’s always a great time in the city. (Major AOT season 4 spoiler located from 33:31-35:05 & 42:30 -42:50 )
In this week’s episode, our descent into villainy continues. First, we open our What’s Hot segment to discuss DC’s continuous fumbling of the bag. From there we highlight different villain archetypes/objectives, tropes, our favorite villains, and the ones we despise. For our deep dive, we fall into the rabbit hole of getting into the psyche of a villain. Finally, for our Make the Case segment, we have one of our more intense debates. Who’s the more popular villain, Darth Vader or The Joker?
This week we do our first “official” character analysis of season one with Eddie Brock’s Venom. We discuss the cast of symbiote hosts before touching upon the character’s checkered and WILD history along with his character development. Then we talk about how we can apply the themes and developments that the character has made to our day to day life apart from eating someone’s brains. We delve into talks over anti-heroes and what makes them more appealing than some of your more traditional paragons. RENEGADE FOR LIFE! Finally, we give a certain duo their roses.
