Beyond The Rainbow: Ponderings of Our Queer Lives
Stagione 1
Ep.02 The power in our bodies: Notes on body neutrality and self image.
Ep.01 We're here...we're queer!
di Leonardo Rodriguez/ Sierra Prince
In this episode of "Beyond the Rainbow," Sierra and Leo discuss various topics related to body image and self-esteem in the LGBTQ+ community. They introduce the concept of body neutrality, which emphasizes gratitude for what your body can do rather than how it looks. They also examine societal pressure to conform to certain body types and standards, and the empowering effect of using clothing as a tool to express one's queerness. The conversation then shifts to weight discrimination, particularly in the context of dating apps and queer communities, and notes the generational differences in attitudes towards body size. Finally, the hosts discuss the body positivity movement, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and representation in the movement.
For this first episode we talk about the idea of creating a podcast, a bit of our personal story and what we hope to achieve with this project. Enjoy this introductory episode and we hope to see you on the next one
