Chapter 18 — Find the Stake

Riku Hayashi is learning that the obvious threat is not always the real one.

The gray car is gone.

That should feel like relief.

Instead, Riku’s notebook tells him something worse: the pattern may not have ended. It may have changed.

At school, Sara’s self-defense lesson begins to matter sooner than anyone expected. Mina, Nori, Chika, and Ren are no longer just girls asking the Scarlet Blade how to fight. They are learning how to escape, how to make witnesses, how to move before fear freezes them, and how to understand danger before it becomes a story someone else controls.

But traps have more than ropes.

They have stakes.

And if Riku wants to protect Sara in a world of rumors, cameras, watchers, and quiet pressure, he has to learn how to find what holds the trap in place.
