Chronological Reading of the Bible - Day 280 - October 7, 2026

This is part of a year long reading of the Bible chronologically in a harmonized format. Psalms 76:1 - 76:12 - God is known in Judah and dwells in Zion, where He breaks the weapons of war, and at His rebuke the mighty warriors fall asleep and both rider and horse lie stunned. - God rises to judge and to save the humble of the earth, even the wrath of man will praise Him, so His people should make and keep their vows to the One who humbles the pride of princes. Acts 21:37 - 22:21 - Paul asks the Roman tribune for permission to speak, then addresses the crowd in Hebrew, telling how he was raised under Gamaliel and zealously persecuted the Way. - He describes meeting Jesus in a bright light on the road to Damascus, receiving his sight through Ananias, being told to be baptized, and later hearing the Lord say in the temple, "Go, for I will send you far away to the Gentiles."

Chronological Reading of the Bible - Day 281 - October 8, 2026

This is part of a year long reading of the Bible chronologically in a harmonized format. Isaiah 40:1 - 42:25 - God tells His people to be comforted as a voice calls out to prepare the way for the LORD, and though people wither like grass, the word of our God stands forever, and the incomparable Creator gives new strength to those who trust in Him so they soar high on wings like eagles. - The LORD tells Israel His chosen servant, "Don't be afraid, for I am with you," challenges the idols to predict the future, and presents His Servant who will not crush the weakest reed but will bring justice and be a light to guide the nations, while Israel stays blind and deaf and is handed over to plunder because of its sin. Acts 22:22 - 23:11 - When Paul mentions being sent to the Gentiles, the crowd shouts that he isn't fit to live, and the commander orders him whipped and questioned, but Paul asks if it is legal to whip a Roman citizen who has not been tried, and the commander becomes afraid on learning Paul was born a citizen. - Before the high council, the high priest Ananias orders Paul struck on the mouth, then Paul divides the Pharisees and Sadducees by saying he is on trial because of his hope in the resurrection of the dead, and that night the Lord appears to him and says, "Be encouraged, Paul. Just as you have been a witness to me here in Jerusalem, you must preach the Good News in Rome as well."

Chronological Reading of the Bible - Day 282 - October 9, 2026

This is part of a year long reading of the Bible chronologically in a harmonized format. Isaiah 43:1 - 44:28 - The LORD who created Israel tells His people, "Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine," promises to be with them through deep waters and fire, calls Israel His witnesses that He alone is God and there is no other Savior, and declares He is about to do something new, making a pathway through the wilderness and rivers in the dry wasteland, and will blot out their sins for His own sake. - God promises to pour out His Spirit on Israel's descendants, declares He is the First and the Last with no other God, mocks the craftsman who burns half of a tree to cook his food and bows down to a god carved from the rest, says He has swept away His people's sins like a cloud, and names Cyrus as His shepherd who will command that Jerusalem be rebuilt and the Temple restored. Acts 23:12-35 - More than forty Jews bind themselves with an oath not to eat or drink until they have killed Paul and plan an ambush with the leading priests, but Paul's nephew hears of the plot and tells Paul, who sends him to the commander, and the commander tells the young man not to let anyone know he reported it. - The commander sends Paul to Caesarea that night under guard of 200 soldiers, 200 spearmen, and 70 mounted troops, with a letter from Claudius Lysias to Governor Felix saying the charges concerned their religious law and nothing deserved prison or death, and after learning Paul is from Cilicia, Felix says he will hear the case when the accusers arrive and keeps Paul in prison at Herod's headquarters.
