While Xi Jinping was being welcomed at the White House, thousands of people who have lived under his government were in the streets of Washington telling America the other side. Organizers said more than 2,000 Tibetans came from across North America, joined by Uyghurs, Hong Kongers, Taiwanese, Southern Mongolians and Chinese pro-democracy activists, per Radio Free Asia. They marched through the city, rallied at the Chinese Embassy and near the Capitol, and held a candlelight vigil in Franklin Park.
