She admitted it on camera. Brenda Lee Brown Armstrong, 64, of Marina del Rey, pleaded guilty in June to a federal felony count of paying another person to register to vote, after James O'Keefe's undercover team filmed her on Skid Row saying "Because you haven't registered, I need to register you so I can get paid, too." Prosecutors say she paid people between $2 and $3 a signature and registered them herself when they were not on the rolls, sometimes using her own former address. The count carries up to five years. United States District Judge Mark Scarsi sentenced her to 18 months of probation and 120 hours of community service. No prison. First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli called it admitted voter fraud.
