DEEPER week 3 - September 20th, 2026

In Week 3 of Deeper, we look at what happens when life takes us into the depths of anguish, disappointment, and resentment—and discover that even there, we still have a choice about which voice we respond to.

In 1 Samuel 1, Hannah is overwhelmed by pain, yet instead of allowing her suffering to drive her away from God, she turns toward Him in prayer. Her story reminds us that Jesus draws us toward Himself, while the enemy seeks to lure us away.

Peter warns us that our adversary prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Our response is to stand firm in the faith—to plant our feet in the place God is calling us and refuse to be moved.

And when God answers Hannah’s prayer, she does something remarkable: she gives her answered prayer back to the Lord. Her son Samuel grows up in the presence of God, eventually learning to recognize the voice that is calling him.

The deeper walk with God requires us to face three realities: God is calling us. Jesus is drawing us. And the enemy is trying to lure us.

The question is: Whose call are you responding to?

Are you being drawn by Jesus—or lured by the roaring lion?
