Recent research indicates that medical protection against RSV significantly diminishes over time for both the elderly and infants. A study of US veterans aged 60 and older revealed that vaccine effectiveness against infection and hospitalization dropped substantially over an eighteen-month period, particularly among the immunocompromised.
