Episode 6 — What Is God? Where Is God?

In this episode, Lauren continues our journey through the Children’s Catechism by learning two important truths about God:

What is God? God is a Spirit and does not have a body like men.

Where is God? God is everywhere.

We’ll talk about what it means that God is a Spirit and why we can know that God is real even though we cannot see Him with our eyes. We’ll also explore what it means that God is everywhere and how this truth reminds us that we are never outside of God’s presence.

We’ll open our Bibles to John 4:24 and Psalm 139:7–10 and discover what God’s Word teaches us about who God is and His presence with us wherever we go.

And most importantly, we’ll see how these truths point us to the good news of Jesus Christ—the One who came to save sinners and bring us to God.

Scripture in This Episode

  • John 4:24
  • Psalm 139:7–10

Q: Where is God? A: God is everywhere.

Family Discussion

After listening, talk about these questions together:

  • What does it mean that God is a Spirit?
  • Can we see God with our eyes? Does that mean He isn’t real?
  • What are some things that are real even though we cannot see them?
  • What does it mean that God is everywhere?
  • Is there anywhere we can go where God is not present?
  • How can knowing that God is always present comfort us when we are afraid?
  • How should knowing that God is always with us change the way we live?

Remember This Week

God is a Spirit. God is everywhere.

We cannot see God with our eyes, but He is completely real and is always present with His people.
