The Mixtape Me- Phil Thompson (Department S)

Our guest this week we welcome and post-punk and new wave icon to The Mixtape Me- guitarist and frontman Phil Thompson. He is most well known as the guitarist and songwriter for the band Department S, working on some of their biggest hits. He has toured recently with the Scottish post punk pioneers The Rezillos when they were opening up for the 2026 B52s and Devo co-headline tour. Most recently, he has been working on a project called the Sound of 79, a post-punk supergroup featuring members of Eddie and the Hot Rods, The Selecter, and The Vapors. They have many live dates on the horizon so make sure not to miss it.
