Friday the 13th Part III (in 3D!)

Put on your 3D glasses now! Sam and Will are headed to Crystal Lake for a relaxing weekend with newly hockey-masked Jason Voorhees in 1982's Friday the 13th Part III. Get ready to duck and dodge 3D baseball bats, wallets, joints, eyeballs, yo-yos and more eyeballs as Friday the 13th nails down the slasher formula that would carry Jason through nine more movies. (And by formula we mean sex, death and wandering into old barns and cabins.) Music: Backbeat by Kevin MacLeod (https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/) via Creative Commons license. The World's End

This week we're taking a look at thematic trilogies from a single director. And before you worry that we're gonna go all film school on you, relax! Will and Sam watched The World's End, Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg's followup to Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz in the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy. Can Wright and Pegg do for pub crawls and body-snatching aliens what they did for zombies and shoot-em-ups? Can you tell a more mature story while staging a bar fight with goo-filled aliens? And were TWELVE pubs too many? Tune in and find out! Music: Backbeat by Kevin MacLeod (https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/) via Creative Commons license. Die Hard with a Vengeance

It's not Christmas, but that's okay 'cause we're watching the Die Hard that isn't a Christmas movie! That's right, it's time for 1995's Die Hard with a Vengeance... aka the one with Samuel L. Jackson! While John McClane plays the world's hardest game of Simon Says, Sam and Will discuss the evolution of action movies from the 80s into the 90s, delve into the many scripts that got kicked around for Die Hard 3, and break down what makes Bruce Willis such a great action hero. Spider-Man: No Way Home

Three is the magic number as Will and Sam swing into the Spider-Verse... or at least the Parker-Verse with 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home. Reunite with Peter 1, Peter 2, and Peter 3 as we discuss how the 27th movie (!!!) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sneakily works as the final chapter in a trilogy AND as a surprise Spider-Man origin story! Son of Frankenstein

Before the MCU, before the DCEU, before the Star Wars Expanded Universe, even before the, um, Dark Universe... there were the Universal Monsters. Join Will and Sam for an old school graveyard smash as they tackle one of the oldest threequels out there, 1939's Son of Frankenstein, starring Boris Karloff, Basil Rathbone AND Bela Lugosi. A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

It seemed only right that we celebrate our 13th episode with that 80s slasher classic... A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors! (April Fools, Jason!) Stay up late with Sam and Will as Freddy Krueger's franchise finds itself, and see if the Dream Warriors live up to the hype of their sick-ass theme song from Dokken. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

This week's episode belongs in a museum! Will and Sam revisit 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and come to the shocking conclusion that Steven Spielberg is a pretty good director. Want another blistering hot take? John Williams makes good music. Music: Backbeat by Kevin MacLeod (https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/) via Creative Commons license. The Dark Knight Rises

Will and Sam face Gotham's reckoning with a very different but equally messy Batman Threequel: 2012's The Dark Knight Rises, a film that boldly attempts to cram three landmark Batman stories into one film while also trying to follow up two of the most influential Batman movies ever made. Maybe "boldly" isn't the right word... Music: Backbeat by Kevin MacLeod (https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/) via Creative Commons license. (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/legalcode)

Batman Forever

There a new Batman in theaters, and there's no better way to celebrate than revisiting the Day-Glo drenched fever dream that was Joel Schumacher's Batman Forever, the first half of our "Batman Threequel" two-parter! Crank up the Seal and/or U2 singles as Will and Sam head back to 1995 to revisit the box office smash that was, amazingly, FOUR Bat-Actors ago. (Five if you count the one made of Legos.) Once Upon a Time in Mexico

This week, Mexico's our beat and we're walking it with Will's latest pick, 2003's Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Robert Rodriguez's third adventure with El Mariachi... sort of. This time, the gunslinging, guitar-playing El takes a backseat to Johnny Depp, Willem Dafoe, Mickey Rourke, Eva Mendes, Ruben Blades, Cheech Marin, Danny Trejo, Enrique Iglesias, Moco the Chihuahua, the guy from Cinema Paradiso and... um... am I forgetting anyone?
