James Cybulski talks career, Canucks and more

Longtime sports broadcaster and voice of the EA Sports NHL franchise James Cybulski joins the show to chat about his career in broadcasting and everything hockey. We start off by chatting about his hockey fandom growing up in Ottawa, how improv helped prepare him for a career in broadcasting and some of his early experiences covering hockey. Then we get into Vancouver Canucks history as James compares the 1994 and 2011 Stanley Cup Final teams, talks about Pavel Bure and Trevor Linden and looks back on his time covering the West Coast Express era in Vancouver.

James then tells us about his Welcome to the NHL moment involving an angry Scott Stevens and what it was like getting the chance to call NHL players early in his broadcasting career. We also chat about his work calling Vancouver Goldeneyes games, what he thinks the NHL can learn from the PWHL and how teams can create a better atmosphere for fans in the arena. As well James talks about the Clearing the Crease podcast with Mike Commodore and Andrew Raycroft before turning the tables and asking Russell about his three favourite Vancouver Canucks of all time.

If you are sick of Luke Gazdic's poor analysis during the intermission, if you are looking for someone to banter with during the game and if you want to meet a bunch of crazy hockey fans then this stream is the one for you. There will be mayhem in chat so make sure you say hello when you stop by.

Come and watch the game with us.
