On this Friday edition of the Front Page Football Podcast, host Christian Marchetti has an extended chat into the biggest story surrounding the A-Leagues at the moment!
Christian is joined by FPF writer Jack Twohill for a one-hour deep dive into all the recent talk about the Newcastle Jets' ownership situation, and the possibility the club could fold at season's end (2:55). The boys dissect the concerning comments from Stephen Conroy and Nick Garcia this week, Jets CEO Shane Mattiske's short statement on the matter, and the peculiar role the APL are playing in the sale process. Jack also provides some important background about football ownership in Newcastle, dating back to the days of the NSL.
Later in the pod, the boys discuss another ownership situation in Canberra (30:33), focusing on the importance of the club's women's team staying afloat, before finishing by answering a listener question about ownership models in the A-Leagues and the Australian football pyramid (41:58).
