Sermon Series | The End Is All About Jesus | 19. The Birth of Jesus

The End is All About Jesus

The Birth of Jesus

Revelation 12:1-18

The Main Point: The conflict between God and Satan brings us hope, not despair.

The Characters (vv1-5)

• A Pregnant Woman (vv1-2; Gen 3:16a; 4:1, 25)
• A Powerful Dragon (vv3-4, 9; Gen 3:15a)
• A Princely Son (v5; Isa 9:6-7b; Jn 8:44)
• There is a real conflict between Jesus and Satan.

The Conflict (vv6-18)

• The dragon is defeated in heaven. (vv6-12a; Dan 10:13; Lk 10:18b; Col 1:15-17; Gen 3:15b)
  • Satan has already lost the conflict.
• The dragon is defeated on earth but continues to fight. (vv12b-18; Ex 15:12)
  • The conflict is ongoing…for now.
