Job reaches the end of his argument with less certainty about himself and a clearer view of God. The psalm asks for judgment, knowledge, and understanding. Then the disciples come back excited about what they were able to do, and Jesus points them past the accomplishment to something deeper. I need that reminder when a job goes well. Results matter. Competence matters. But success can become its own little trap if I start believing the result tells me everything about who I am. A good day doesn’t make me invincible, and a hard day doesn’t erase my worth. I can be grateful for the work that went right without making the work my identity. The better foundation is knowing whose I am.
