God’s questions to Job are humbling because they put the size of my knowledge back in its proper place. The psalm says there is nowhere I can go beyond God’s presence, and Jesus points to a child when the disciples start measuring greatness. That combination is good medicine for pride. I can know a lot about my little corner and still mistake that for knowing the whole thing. I can have authority and still need humility. And I can overlook somebody small because they don’t seem important to the plan. God doesn’t ask me to be all-knowing. He asks me to be faithful, teachable, and careful with the people in front of me. That is enough work for one day.
