Students Discuss Healing From the Stress of Racism-Rerun

The anxiety and stress from racism has affected people of all races and ethnicities, especially African-Americans! It is anticipated that our discussion will encourage teachers and counselors to explore the psychological impact of racism in African-American, as well as other students of all ages. The media placed great attention on the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin murder trial and there were many broken hearts over the verdict. The continued political and media hype shines light on the negative statistics associated with unemployment, education, and poverty of African-American males. Although the statistics are relevant, it is necessary that we shine light on the progress of African-Americans and how many people do "get along" regardless of race. Join Dr. Applewhite and special guest, Dr. Beverly Johnson, Author and retired ASU professor, in a positive discussion on ways to heal the scars of racism. Veterans join our VET2VET™ segment and speak about how the military has also progressed in the area of racism and share news updates and commentary at the end of the show.
