Chronological Reading of the Bible - Day 167 - June 16, 2026

This is part of a year long reading of the Bible chronologically in a harmonized format. Psalms 133:1-3 - The psalm celebrates the beauty and blessing of unity among God's people. - It compares harmony to precious oil and dew, bringing God's commanded blessing of life forevermore. Psalms 106:1-48 - The psalmist praises God for His goodness and recounts Israel's repeated sins and rebellions. - Despite idolatry and disobedience in the wilderness and land, God remembers His covenant and delivers them. Matthew 27:57-60 - Joseph of Arimathea, a disciple, asks Pilate for Jesus' body and wraps it in clean linen. - He lays the body in his own new tomb and rolls a great stone across the entrance. Mark 15:42-46 - Joseph of Arimathea courageously requests Jesus' body from Pilate on Preparation Day. - He buys linen, takes down the body, wraps it, and places it in a rock-cut tomb. Luke 23:50-54 - Joseph, a good and upright council member who had not consented to the deed, requests the body. - He wraps Jesus in linen and lays him in a new rock tomb as Sabbath begins. John 19:31-37 - Jewish leaders ask Pilate to break the legs of the crucified to hasten death before Sabbath. - Soldiers pierce Jesus' side instead, fulfilling scripture as blood and water flow out.

Chronological Reading of the Bible - Day 266 - September 23, 2026

This is part of a year long reading of the Bible chronologically in a harmonized format. 2 Chronicles 28:1-27 - Ahaz did not do what was right. He made idols, burned his sons, and closed the doors of the house of the Lord. - Judah is struck and plundered. In distress Ahaz becomes still more faithless, not less. 2 Kings 16:1 - 17:41 - Ahaz copies the altar of Damascus and strips the temple for Assyria's favor. - Israel is carried away for idolatry. Samaria is resettled, and a mixed worship of the Lord and other gods remains. Romans 8:18-39 - Present suffering is not worth comparing with the glory to be revealed. Creation waits for the revealing of the sons of God. - Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus — not tribulation, persecution, or any created thing.

Chronological Reading of the Bible - Day 279 - October 6, 2026

This is part of a year long reading of the Bible chronologically in a harmonized format. Isaiah 36:1 - 39:8 - The Assyrian commander mocks Hezekiah for trusting God, but Hezekiah takes the threat to the Lord in prayer, and the angel of the Lord strikes the Assyrian camp so Sennacherib retreats. - God hears Hezekiah's prayer when he is deathly sick and adds fifteen years to his life, but after Hezekiah shows his treasures to envoys from Babylon, Isaiah foretells that everything will one day be carried off to Babylon. Acts 21:17 - 21:36 - In Jerusalem, James and the elders welcome Paul and advise him to join four men in a purification vow to show he still honors the law. - Jews from Asia stir up the crowd with false claims that Paul brought Greeks into the temple, and Roman soldiers rescue him from the mob as the people shout, "Away with him!"

Day 1 – January 1, 2026

Day 1 – January 1, 2026 This is Day 1 of a year-long chronological Bible reading plan that harmonizes the Scriptures, presenting events in approximate order while including multiple accounts of the same events for a fuller picture. - Genesis 1:1 – 2:25 - God creates the heavens, earth, light, sky, land, plants, sun, moon, stars, sea creatures, birds, animals, and finally humanity in His image. - On the seventh day God rests, blesses it, and establishes the pattern of Sabbath; He forms man from dust, plants the Garden of Eden, and creates woman from man’s rib. - Luke 1:1–4 - Luke, having carefully investigated everything, writes an orderly account for Theophilus so that he may be certain of the truth. - This serves as the preface to his Gospel, emphasizing reliable eyewitness testimony. - John 1:1–18 - In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), who was with God and was God; through Him all things were created, and He is the source of life and light. - The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, bringing grace and truth; John the Baptist testifies to Him as the true light, and those who receive Him become children of God.

Read Day 2 – January 2, 2026

Read Day 2 – January 2, 2026 (This is part of a year-long chronological/harmonized Bible reading plan that follows the biblical narrative in order.) Genesis 3:1 – 4:26 - The serpent deceives Eve, leading to the Fall: Adam and Eve disobey God, bringing sin, shame, and curse into the world. - God pronounces judgments (pain in childbirth, toil, expulsion from Eden); Cain murders Abel, and the line of Seth is introduced as the godly remnant. Matthew 1:1-17 - The genealogy of Jesus Christ is traced through three sets of 14 generations: from Abraham to David, David to the exile, and exile to Christ. - The list establishes Jesus as the promised Messiah, the legal heir of David and rightful King, through Joseph’s line.

January 3, 2026 - Day 3

This is part of a year-long reading of the Bible chronologically in a harmonized format. Genesis 5:1-7:24 - Chronicles the genealogy from Adam to Noah through Seth, noting long lifespans, births, and deaths over generations. - Depicts human wickedness leading to God's regret and plan for a flood, Noah's favor and ark-building instructions, and the flood's beginning that covers the earth. Luke 3:23-38 - States Jesus was about thirty when starting his ministry, thought to be Joseph's son, then lists his ancestry backward. - Traces the lineage through David, Abraham, Noah, and Seth to Adam as the son of God.
