July 2025 shattered records in North Carolina, marking the hottest month ever recorded in the state. Central North Carolina experienced a heat index over 100 degrees every day during the final week of the month. On top of the extreme heat, Tropical Depression Chantal brought devastating flooding to Orange, Alamance, and Durham Counties.
