No one in their right mind would ever aspire to be a Pharisee. Jesus condemned the Pharisees in Matthew 23, “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!” However, the sad reality is that many of the tendencies of the Pharisees prevalent in Bible times remain evident in the lives of professing believers today. In our text in Mark 2 and 3 this morning we will see how Jesus interacted with the Pharisees and exposed their sin. We’ll identify the tendencies of a Pharisee and ask ourselves, “Am I one?” Prepare your heart to receive the message of the Word through the ministry of the Holy Spirit’s convicting power.
