Step outside and you'll feel it right now, we're sitting at 30 degrees under a thick gray blanket. That high of 40 later today is basically normal for mid-March, clouds will thicken up through the afternoon. You might catch a few flurries in Central Vermont after 1 P.M., but don't expect anything to stick.
As the sun sets. Tonight is when the action starts, rain arrives after midnight. Southern Vermont could see a quick window of freezing rain between 9 degrees and 4. A.M., but it will flip to plain rain fast as temps climb into the mid 30s. The Northeast Kingdom gets in on the rain by 5 A.M, while the Champlain Valley bottoms out around a mild 32 degrees.
