Folks, Vermont pulled a weird trick overnight. Brattleboro woke up at 29 degrees. Montpelier? A balmy 38. The mountains are warmer than the valleys this morning, and yes, you read that thermometer right.
Here's the deal. A warm front is pushing north but stalling out over southern Vermont. So Brattleboro stays trapped in the cold pocket while Montpelier and the Northeast Kingdom ride that milder air. A nine degree spread between south and north, completely backwards from the usual script.
Now drive north on Route 100 from Brattleboro. You'll feel the temperature climb with every mile. Central Vermont sits at 38 degrees with the best chance of rain or a wintry mix today. Those above freezing temps mean it's mostly wet stuff. Down in ...
