The Battle of the Alamo
This Day in His-Story di American Heritage Worldwide
Note sull'episodio
The Battle of the Alamo began on February 24, 1836, when Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna laid siege to the Alamo mission in San Antonio, where Texan defenders led by William B. Travis, James Bowie, and Davy Crockett resisted for 13 days. Though the Mexican army ultimately overwhelmed the small Texan force on March 6, the defenders’ sacrifice inspired the rallying cry “Remember the Alamo!” and strengthened the fight for Texas independence, which was secured weeks later at San Jacinto. The Alamo stands as a symbol of courage, conviction, and standing firm for a cause even when the outcome is uncertain.
