26: All Things ADHD
ADHD is one of those hot topics on social media that is often trending but misunderstood. As therapists who see clients with ADHD regularly, and therapists with our own diagnoses, we hope this episode is helpful in identifying what ADHD is and how you might see this showing up in yourself or the people in your life. And as ADHD impacts nearly every part of functioning, there are so many trailheads to navigate. We will be covering more of these in future episodes, but if you have any particular interests or questions related to ADHD, send us a message! We'd love to hear from you! 24: EMDR with Katrina Serfling
In this episode, we're joined by Katrina Serfling, LMHC, NCC, EMDR certified consultant, and supervisor and owner of Human to Human Counseling in Des Moines, IA. If you're experiencing a toxic work environment, or you're wondering if it's really as bad as you think it is, this episode is for you! 19: Therapist Q&A, AKA: an episode where we totally wing it!
This week we showed up to record without a plan. There were some technical difficulties, sound issues, and some very random questions for each other. What a ride! In the episode, we mentioned several books that we love or have read recently. Here's the list: How to Love Better - Yung Pueblo The Emotionally Absent Mother - Jasmin Lee Cori A Way of Being - Carl Rogers Introduction to Internal Family Systems - Richard Schwartz Untamed - Glennon Doyle Bittersweet - Susan Cain Where to find us: Facebook The Unfiltered Therapists (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61555886414027) Kay Foster, LISW (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61557148641038) Hopeful Minds Therapy (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61554441941125) Instagram @unfilteredtherapists @hopefulmindstherapy PsychologyToday https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists/kay-foster-ankeny-ia/953009 https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists/jess-ward-polk-city-ia/1127839 Our Websites https://ankenycounselingcenter.com/kay-foster/ https://www.hopefulmindstherapy.com/ Disclaimer - This podcast is not a substitute for therapy services. 18: Challenge Check In - How Did We Do?

As always, we are not doctors and we recommend you speak with your own doctor before starting any new medication or adjusting your exercise/nutrition significantly. 17: Self-Care and Following Through With Recommendations in Therapy
This week we're changing things up a bit. We're challenging each other to some self-care activities/ideas to implement so that we can really get into the barriers that clients face when this comes up in therapy. Lots of times we notice that clients don't follow through with their own, or collaborative, ideas or goals to care for themselves so here's to taking a closer look at why that might happen. Plus, I (Kay) go down a rabbit hole (cue the ADHD brain) that might be very interesting to you. It definitely was for me. I have been so excited about learning this about myself and the way it's impacted my life. Seriously. This has changed so much for me. If you have ADHD you may be fascinated and want to do your own research. As always, we are not doctors and we recommend you speak with your own doctor before starting any new medication or adjusting your exercise/nutrition significantly. 16: Winter Blues: What You Need to Know About Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)
We're right in the middle of winter and this is when we start to see an uptick in the winter blues with our clients. In this episode we share more about Seasonal Affective Disorder, or seasonal depression, and what we recommend to make it through without falling into the depths of the season. As always, we're pretty unhinged and totally unfiltered.
