There’s this movie called Road Trip. Come on, you know you remember “Mitch.” Not that I’m going to get into telling you the plot on my Roofle column but I do want to bring up a plot twist. You know the part when they decide to take a shortcut? After driving for four hours they approach a creek or a river or something where a bridge should be only it’s no longer there. Rather than going back and losing out on 8 very needed hours they JUMP the bridge. They almost made it until all the wheels fell off and the front axle broke. The argument in that particular moment among the characters is that the shortcut is not on the map they’re reading. “That’s because it’s a shortcut, if it wasn’t a shortcut it would just be called the way.”
