The Harpies have long been depicted as screeching daemons, with half woman, half bird bodies. They are the hounds of Zeus when you piss him off, and Jove (Zeus) help you if you try to eat around them. The Furies are something even more frightening. They were goddess born before Zeus was even a blink in his mother's eye, and a ball of rock in his father's belly. They guard the prisons of Tartarus and are Hades' lieutenants of torture and pain. Join me in this somewhat lighthearted discussion of the BoogeyWomen of ancient Greek myth, and their fearsome deeds.
